Vishal Sonawane, Additional Tehsildar, Gondia, has been appointed Tehsildar Malegaon after Nitinkumar Deore was unexpectedly transferred today. Sonawane told The Voice of Malegaon that he started his career in the Revenue Department in 2013. From 2014 to 2021, he was Naib Tehsildar, Chalisagon, for seven long years. Before that, Sonawane was a Police Sub-Inspector from 2010 to 2013, he said. His current posting was of Additional Tehsildar, Gondia.
When asked why he left a policeman’s service and decided to join the Revenue Department, Sonawane said in the Revenue Department, “You get a chance to work at a broader level”. Sonawane, who himself does not like to be talked about for his works, believes “to continue to work honestly” is the mantra of his life. “At the moment I can’t tell you exactly when I will be taking the charge. But I will be assuming the office at the earliest,” he said. He comes from Bhadgaon in the Jalgaon district.
The outgoing Tehsildar Nitinkumar Deore had taken the charge in March 2023 after he had recovered from an ailment. Deore assumed the office at a time when the post of Tehsildar Malegaon was vacant for many months. There had been a continuous demand from different sections for a full-time Tehsildar. Ahead of his appointment, the post was handled by at least three acting Tehsildars. If the reports are to be believed, Deore has got himself transferred due to family commitments. Before coming to Malegaon, he was Tehsildar, Dharangaon, in the Jalgaon district.
