About Us

The Voice of Malegaon is an independent media organisation based out of the textile town of Malegaon in North Maharashtra, India. The news website has presence across all major social media platforms viz X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest and WhatsApp. It is neither funded by any big corporate house nor propelled by any power-wielding individual.

It’s just an ambitious journalist’s bold and daring attempt to dream big and break through the opaque wall of the stereotypes. Ashfaque Ismail, its Founder and Editor-In-Chief, firmly believes in India the local issues plaguing a smaller town like Malegaon usually get neglected by the mainstream media. As a result, these issues continue to persist in the system without even giving any respite to the populace. Sadly, these civic woes do not get the kind of media attention and the subsequent coverage they rightfully deserve.

Unfortunately, a town like Malegaon despite having witnessed two terror attacks, rapid ongoing urbanisation, unprecedented growth with expansion taking place in every direction, both in terms of population and area, especially over the past decade, does not have a strong media house of its own. This leaves a huge dent in the media space as far as giving the town a proper coverage is concerned. It is also the prime reason for a trust deficit between the general public and the authorities, subsequently depriving the town’s ever growing population of a rightful and patient hearing to their miseries.

With an aim to bridging this particular gap in its crosshairs, The Voice of Malegaon has embarked on a journey to not only feel people’s miseries, but also raise them with the powers that be and at the same time pursue its own dream of growing into a major media house with a formidable presence in the region over the years to come.

At the moment, there are umpteen number of civic issues plaguing the textile town. Most prominent among them is the issuance of birth certificates to the citizens. The formation of SIT and the ensuing investigations into the alleged fake birth certificates scam has slowed down the genuine process drastically. The situation has brutally affected and keeps affecting hundreds of men, women and most importantly children who run from pillar to post to get the basic document.

Then comes the issue of clearing the main streets and arterial roads in the town of encroachments. Lately, encroachments in Malegaon have reached dangerous proportions. These encroachments have, in many ways, taken the textile town back to backwardness. With all these civic challenges in its crosshairs, The Voice of Malegaon started its media foray in October 2020 with an internet edition.

Now in its seventh year of coming into existence, the media house aims to spread its tentacles across other forms of media especially the most crucial and highly credible print form. Subsequently, to bring the textile town to the mainstream’s fold as far as giving the town a proper media coverage was concerned. At the end it would be astute to mention that the website’s sole purpose is to keep the masses informed of the current happenings in their neighbourhood through impeccable and flawless pieces of reporting.
