IAS Aman Mittal took charge of the Jalgaon District Collector and District Magistrate on September 30, 2022.

On Friday, the Jalgaon District Collector and District Magistrate IAS Aman Mittal gave his sanction for preventive detention of a bootlegger and a dangerous person under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug-Offenders, Dangerous Persons and Video Pirates Act, 1981 or the MPDA Act, 1981. 

Detenu Prakash Chandrakant Kanjar, 34, a resident of Khanderao Nagar in Jalgaon has as many as eight offences of serious nature registered against him.  Since June 2020, Kanjar has been involved in illegal bootlegging in and around Khanderao Nagar, the Jalgaon Rural Police chief pleaded in his proposal for preventive detention for Kanjar sent to the District Collector. Kanjar has been awarded a one-year’s preventive detention at Thane Central Jail under the ‘bootleggers’ head. 

Similarly, detenu Sonu Rameshwar Pandey, 28, a resident of Bhusawal (behind Mamaji Talkies) has been awarded a one-year’s preventive detention at Pune’s Yerawada Central Jail under the ‘dangerous persons’ head. Pandey has as many as six cases of serious nature registered against him. 

The Jalgaon District Police head in his proposal for preventive detention for Pandey sent to the Collector said since 2013 Pandey has been involved in such serious offences as house break-ins, burglary, committing burglary by causing hurt, grievous hurt with (the help of) weapon, Arms Act, illegal house-tresspass, intimidation along with abuse, etc.

Since November 2022, Jalgaon Collector IAS Aman Mittal has sent a total of 21 offenders to preventive detention under such heads as dangerous persons, bootleggers, sand smugglers, to Nagpur, Amravati, Thane, Nashik, and Yerawada central prisons.
