Adv Chandrashekhar Deore was elected President, Adv Naveed Akhtar Vice-President and Adv Kishor Tribhuvan Secretary in the biennial elections to the Bar.
With 212 votes being cast in his favour, Advocate Chandrashekhar Shivaji Deore was elected President of the Malegaon Bar Association on Wednesday in a polling that saw a total of 415 of 497 members of the Bar casting their ballot amidst much fanfare.
Other lawyers who were in the fray for the President’s post and who could not garner the magic number include Adv R K Bachchav and Adv Gokul Bhivsan Hiray.
Similarly, Adv Naveed Akhtar was elected Vice-President with 225 votes being cast in his favour. Adv Akhtar’s contestants were Adv Afzal Ansari, Adv Sohail Ansari and Adv Hidayatullah Abdul Hakeem.
For the Secretary’s chair, Adv Kishor Vinayak Tribhuvan with 232 votes going in his favour defeated his close rivals Adv Yashwant Shivram Mankar and Adv Sachin Umaji Nikam.
Adv Atul Bhila Mahajan won the Treasurer’s chair by bagging 257 votes. Going by the numbers, Adv Mahajan was the one who got the maximum number of votes.

The other lawyer who gave a fight to Adv Mahajan was Adv Sunil Eknath Salve who could not bag the required numbers. Similarly, for the Junior Representative’s post Adv Rajendra Dilip Nikam and Adv Shantanu Jayant Pawar were in the arena. Of these contestants, Adv Nikam emerged as victorious with 224 votes being cast in his favour.
It must be noted that Adv Chandan Pardeshi was elected unopposed for the Joint Secretary’s post while Adv Dhanshri Devendra Jade-More too was elected unopposed as Woman Representative.
As the Returning Officer, Adv Rajendra B Bhamre ensured the polling took place in a friendly, fearless and fair atmosphere. Similarly, Adv Manoj Chauhan, Adv Raju P Wagh and Adv Jamal Nasir conducted the electoral proceeding as Assistant Electoral Officers.
During the voting, Adv M R Khairnar acted as Arbitrator. At an interval of every two years, the Malegaon Bar Association through a free and fair election elects a new executive body. The newly elected executive will continue to function till April 2025.
