The then Chief Minister Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray taking oath of office and secrecy in October 2019.
Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray deputy leader Dr Advay Hiray-Patil in his address said the ties between the Thackeray and Hiray families were not new. They have their roots in the United Maharashtra movement of the sixties, he said.
Dr Patil said for the sake of a united Maharashtra Karamveer Bhausaheb Hiray and Prabodhankar Thackeray came together and made great sacrifices and ensured that Mumbai was never snatched away from the state. Karamveer Bhausaheb Hiray relinquished the post of the Chief Minister for retaining the unity of Maharashtra state, he said.
Dr Patil also said all the development projects that are now a reality in and around Malegaon were due to the works done by Hiray family who has been leading from the front in the political arena in the region. “The Bori-Ambedari open canal dam project was also a result of the works done by my grandmother (Pushpatai Hiray),” he said.
Dr Patil went on to say that he has not joined the Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction for the sake of power as he has seen power from close quarters since his childhood as his family has been a key player at the power corridor of Maharashtra.
Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut who is also an old and veteran Shiv Sainik in his short speech said today ‘Malegaon Ke Sholay’ have turned up at Uddhav Thackeray (saheb)’s rally in an unprecedented number. Raut was referring to the huge crowd that came for listening to the former Chief Minister who has started to address state-wide rallies to take on the forty “traitor” MLAs who last year joined the Eknath Shinde faction.
The rebellion led by the incumbent Chief Minister Eknath Shinde resulted in falling of the Uddhav Thackeray led Maha Vikas Aghadi government comprising Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party apart from the united Shiv Sena.
