In a case that could send shivers down the spine, a woman has alleged in an FIR lodged with the Azad Nagar Police that her husband’s other wife Mehreen (28) gave poisonous substance to her 14-month-old boy Arsalan, who was rushed to four different hospitals after he started showing serious signs like vomiting.

Unfortunately, in just two days of “being infected with some poisonous substance” the infant lost his battle with life at Civil Hospital Nashik fighting with some unknown serious ailment. His mother Naseemussaher (29) in her FIR claims that the incident occurred on March 23 this year at 10.30 pm when she had gone to see her mother-in-law who lives just in front of her house in the Naya Pura locality.

The woman also claims in the FIR that her mother-in-law Saeeda asked Ammar, the son of her sister-in-law (husband’s sister), to take Arsalan out for some time as they were talking. The boy Ammar came after half an hour with Arsalan. However, he again went out with Arsalan without telling her (complainant) and came back after ten minutes.

On receiving the complaint on May 1, we took the accused into custody and produced her in court where she was sent to PCR till May 4. She is now in MCR. The complainant has lodged the FIR solely based on suspicion. There are no eyewitnesses in the case. We have sent the viscera to the forensic lab for testing and are awaiting its report. The picture will be clear once the report comes in. Further investigation is going, Pratapsingh Bahure, Police Inspector, Azad Nagar

“When he (Ammar) came back the second time, Arsalan was crying and vomiting. On asking why Arsalan was crying and vomiting and whether he had given anything to eat to him, Ammar told her that he might have been crying and vomiting just like that,” Naseemussaher claims in the FIR.

She goes on to narrate that the infant then was rushed to the nearby Yashfeen Hospital by her and her sister-in-law Sumaiyya where doctor told them that he could not handle the case and asked them to take the boy to Sanjivani Hospital on Satana Naka.

The doctors at Sanjivani Hospital also suggested them to take the boy to Safalya Hospital, Nashik where the boy was subsequently admitted. However, they shifted the infant to Civil Hospital Nashik as they did not have enough money to pay for the bills at Safalya, according to the FIR. A day after on March 25, doctors at Civil Hospital declared the kid dead. After the post mortem was conducted on him, the kid was laid to rest in Malegaon.

However, Naseemussaher claims in the FIR that on May 1 they confronted Ammar and asked him again what really happened on the night of March 23? After pestering for a few minutes, Ammar told them that he had taken the boy to the other aunt (Mehreen)’s home in the same Naya Pura locality. The complainant goes on to claim that she has not been at good terms with her co-wife and that she has banned her (accused’s) entry into her house. This has been the main cause of a strained relationship between both of them.
