Dhule Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan joined the District Planning Committee (DPC) meeting via a video conference. Mahajan holds portfolios of Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Medical Education, Sports and Youth Welfare in the Eknath Shinde-led cabinet. 

On Wednesday, the District Planning Committee Dhule headed by Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan took important decisions regarding the city’s security, farmers’ well-being, and an incentive for devotees to boost tourism. The Committee designated six prime locations in the district as pilgrimage places (Class C) in order to give the much-needed push to tourism in the North Maharashtra belt. 

Dhule District Collector IAS Jalaj Sharma while speaking to The Voice of Malegaon confirmed the development saying, “For ensuring a hassle-free electricity supply to farmers, we have given nod to 200 transformers to be installed at different locations. Besides, six prime locations have been designated as pilgrimage sites in the Class C category for boosting tourism in the district,” he said.    

Conduct an inspection of dilapidated classrooms across the district. After completion of the survey, prepare a report on these fragile structures and submit a proposal for their reconstruction without any delay. This will enable us to achieve our goal of imparting quality education to the children, Girish Mahajan, Guardian Minister, Dhule   

Additional CCTV cameras to watch over the city

Sharma who is the administrative head of the district said the DPC  has also unanimously approved installation of additional CCTV cameras at key locations all over the city for making the law and order machinery more effective. He said the city already has CCTV cameras watching over it at some locations but for putting in place a more effective security apparatus additional CCTV cameras will be installed.   

Dhule District Collector IAS Jalaj Sharma, Resident Deputy Collector Nitin Gawande, District Information Officer Vilas Bodke and other officials were present at the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Collector updated the Guardian Minister about the progress of the District Development Plan and informed him about the expenditure incurred in the year 2022-23 and the funds available, to be disbursed and spent in the year 2023-24. He also said that completion of approved works and the expenditure on them have been achieved within the prescribed period.
