Nashik Rural Police personnel yesterday took out route march in different areas to put on display their readiness for May 20th’s polling.
More than 11,000 police personnel including one District Police Chief rank officer and two officers of the Additional SP’s rank have been pressed into service for tomorrow’s polling day. Three Lok Sabha seats namely Nashik, Dhule and Dindori are going to polls tomorrow i.e. May 20th as part of the fifth phase of voting across the country.
There are a total of twelve assembly constituencies in these three Lok Sabha seats falling under the jurisdiction of the Nashik Rural Police headed by IPS Vikram Deshmane. Apart from an SP and two Additional SPs, thirteen Deputy SPs, and 355 Police Officers will be guarding the streets as well as the polling outlets.
Eying the sensitivity of elections, we have put in place 13 inter-state and 9 inter-district check posts. Along with the District Administration, we (the Nashik Rural Police) have also done our part of the preparedness for the polling on May 20th. We are ready for free, fair and fearless elections and seek people’s cooperation to achieve that goal. We appeal voters to cast their ballot in as large numbers as possible on the D-Day. Besides, 5,800 Police Anmaldars and 3,300 Home Guards will be keeping a tight vigil across all the polling centres. The Nashik Rural Police will be deploying ten companies of State Armed Police and two companies of SRPF to avoid any untoward incidents and to take quick action in case of any emergent situation.
The cops led by Deshmane are in no mood to take chances and jeopardise the law and order. For heightened patrolling activities, at each Police Station five squads have been formed that will keep their areas under a tight vigil. In the backdrop of the Lok Sabha elections, the Nashik Rural Police have launched crackdown on illegal businesses. Under this drive, the cops have lodged as many as 1,292 cases of illicit transport of liquor and seized 91,306 litres of illicit liquors worth Rs 1,28,18,078.
