Setu office staff Rahul Ahire and Deva Patil help Tahsildar Nitinkumar Rajaram Deore put his thumb impression for clearing all the 6,560 pending applications in one sitting.

For weeks, there was a huge backlog of applications for income and other certificates at Setu centre pending for want of thumb impression. This inadvertent delay in clearance of these certificates caused great inconvenience to the citizens mainly the students.

But on Friday citizens especially the students took a major sigh of relief. With Tahslidar Nitinkmar Deore’s timely intervention, decks were cleared for an urgent approval and release of these pending certificates.

Tahsildar Deore informed that of the total 6,560 pending applications, 6,359 were for income certificates, 173 for Age, Nationality and Domicile, 2 for Residence Certificate, 24 for Economically Backward Class, and 2 were in other categories. These applications included those that come from Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendras earlier known as Maha e Seva Kendras as well.

It must be noted that in absence of a full-time Tahsildar for over the past six months, Deputy Tahsildar Ramesh Khaire was giving his thumb impression and clearing all these documents. But as he has been outstation for a ten days training session, no other officer was authorised to clear these documents in his absence.

This further worsened the already vexed situation. At this stage, Tahsildar decided to come to the rescue of citizens. He asked Setu staff Rahul Ahire to get his (Deore’s) thumb impression registered at the earliest with the MahaIT in Mumbai. Ahire got in touch with Nikhil Mahajan, MahaIT coordinator at Nashik Collector Office and got Deore’s thumb impression registered with the MahaOnline Setu portal.

A Tahsil office employee told The Voice of Malegaon that even though today Tahsildar Deore was busy in making proper arrangements for the elections to the Agriculture Produce Market Committee “he gave us time and digitally signed all the 6,560 certificates in one sitting”.

Tehsildar Deore has appealed citizens to apply for certificates like income and domicile etc at the Setu Suvidha Kendra at Malegan Tahsil Office. “Except the prescribed government fee, no one should pay any extra fee for getting these documents,” he said.
