On Monday, the Maharashtra Home Department promoted twelve Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) rank officers and elevated them to the Special Inspector General (IG) rank. Besides, two Special IG rank officers were merely given new posting without giving them any promotion.
Similarly, ten IPS officers of the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) were elevated to the rank of a DIG. This reshuffle includes two senior officers of DIG rank — one was in queue for a new posting — being given a new assignment without giving them any promotion.
Anil Kumbhare who was Additional Commissioner of Police (Central Region) Mumbai has been promoted to Special IG rank and will be posted at Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Mumbai. Similarly, R B Dahale who was Additional Commissioner of Police (Western Region) Pune City will now be heading the Maharashtra Intelligence Academy, Pune as Director.
IPS Sanjay Darade has been promoted from Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Mumbai to Special IG, Maharashtra Crime Investigation Department (CID), Pune. IPS Virendra Mishra who was waiting for a new posting has been brought in in place of Darade as Additional Commissioner of Police, Special Branch.
IPS S H Mahavarkar who was holding the charge of Nanded Range as a DIG has now been promoted. Mahavarkar will now be Special IG, Nanded Range. He has not been transferred as the post has been upgraded to accommodate him. Nisar Tamboli who was Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Mumbai has been promoted and will be posted at the Office of Director General of Police as Special IG (Administration).
In the SP or DCP rank officers’ category, Anil Paraskar has been promoted to Additional Commissioner of Police or a DIG rank. Paraskar will be holding the charge of Additional Commissioner of Police (Central Regional Division) Mumbai in place of Kumbhare. Shashikumar Meena who was Commandant, State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) – Group 8, has been elevated to Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Mumbai.
Similarly, Sanjay B Patil who was DCP Mumbai has been promoted to Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Nagpur City. S D Awhad who was SP, Buldana will now be DCP CID, Pune.
