Nashik Collector Ayush Prasad yesterday visited the Nashik Road Central Jail for conducting annual inspection of the highly-sensitive-and-secured prison. Prasad checked whether basic amenities for prisoners such as healthcare services, cloth washing facility, separate prison cells and restrooms for women and transgender inmates, kitchen, facility for court hearings via video conference were in proper condition or not.
We have asked jail authorities to prepare an updated list of prisoners who are out on parole, who have not returned, those who have fled after jumping parole and hand over this list to the police department on a regular basis. Besides, instructions have been given to fix the prisoners ward at Civil Hospital Nashik once and for all. As part of the inspection, Prasad along with Resident Deputy Collector (RDC) Rohit Rajput interacted with Jail Superintendent Aruna Mugutrao and assessed various parameters mentioned in the jail manual. He also inspected jail hospital and checked on inmate patients and enquired about their health, also gave clear instructions to jail authorities to ensure regular healthcare checkups for prisoners.
Prasad asked jail authorities to complete the annual medical checkup of prisoners in one month. While checking the kitchen, Prasad referred to the recent inspection done by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and pointed out that Rs 1 crore earmarked for the kitchen can be utilised in an optimum manner to fix it. He stressed on further strengthening of jail management.
