FDO staff takes bribe for making ration cards online, falls in ACB net; Court sends him to PCR

A special Anti-Corruption Cases court today sent Ravindra Baliram Dahite, an awwal karkun working with the Office of FDO Malegaon, to Police Custody Remand for one day till April 10, 2024. The Anti-Corruption Bureau Nashik unit team led by DySP Anil Badgujar, the IO in the case, sought three days’ PCR from the court.
However, the court of Hon’ble District Judge K R Patil which also takes up corruption related matters for hearing granted just one day’s police custody. In the wee hours of today, a team of anti-corruption sleuths from Nashik unit took Dahite into custody for graft charges. Earlier in the day, he was caught taking Rs 22,000 bribe for making ration cards online.
Today, the court was working on a holiday for remand works. According to the First Information Report filed in the case, Dahite allegedly demanded Rs 22,500 bribe for making fifteen ration cards online. For each ration card, he sought Rs 1,500 however at the time of taking the money he returned a Rs 500 note to the complainant, according to the FIR lodged by a social worker.
The complainant Mohd Yusuf Haji Mohd Yaseen in the FIR said that earlier also Dahite took money from him for making ration cards online. At that time he took Rs 4,000 bribe, according to the FIR. It was not clear whether this Rs 4,000 was for the entire work or for each ration card.
At that time he did not give the complainant any receipt for accepting those payments. According to the FIR, Yaseen claims he is a social worker and helps the poor and the needy people with government works like making ration cards online etc.
A case was registered at the Camp Police Station with CR No 83/2024 after the ACB team laid a successful trap and nabbed the accused public servant under the Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
