A day after 129 villagers with dangerous food poisoning symptoms were rushed to the government hospitals here, acting Additional Collector Hemangi Patil today visited the General Hospital and checked on inamtes to enquire about their health. On September 28, around 129 villagers from Nandgaon Budruk fell ill after consuming salty snack allegedly laced with adulterated sauce at the weekly village market. The victims complained about stomach ache and vomiting spells.
As soon as we came to know about the fateful incident, we pressed into service all the ambulances at the nine Primary Health Centres (PHCs) under Malegaon Tahsil. A total of 129 villagers were admitted to government hospitals of which condition of almost 90% victims is under control now and they are stable, Addl Collector Hemangi Patil
An active group of social workers from the town brought these food poisoning victims to government hospitals in ambulances by undertaking several round trips. Apart from the General Hospital, a significant number of victims was admitted to the Women & Children’s Hospital.
All the victims are undergoing treatment with a team of doctors keeping a close watch on their progress and the administration was ready to deal with any kind of eventuality, Patil said. Sub-Divisional Officer Nitin Sadgir, Tahsildar Vishal Sonawane, Medical Superintendent Dr Prashant Guthe, Medical Officer Dr Yogesh Patil, Resident Medical Officer (External Relations Department) Dr Balu Patil, Pediatrician Dr Kundekar, Additional Surgeon Dr Momin, and Nursing Superintendent Rekha Mali, among others, were present on this occasion.
