The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Nashik has caught a driver working at the Trimbakeshwar Tahsil office for accepting Rs 1.5 lakh bribe yesterday. Earlier, the Accused Public Servant Anil Baburao Aagivle (43) took Rs 50,000 bribe from the complainant. On Saturday, he was caught red handed while accepting the second installment, the ACB said.
The Tribakeshwar Tahsil office comes under Igatpuri-Trimbakeshwar Sub-Division. Recently the complainant bought an agriculture land in Shirsathe village in Igatpuri. For that he made an advance payment and got its receipt certified before a notary public.
It must be noted that there was some dispute over the land and the erstwhile Prant Officer was hearing the matter. On February 24, 2023, the APS told the complainant that he can get an order from the Prant Officer in his favour. But for that the complainant needs to pay him Rs 2 lakh.
On March 4, 2023, the APS was caught red handed in the presence of panch witnesses while taking Rs 1.5 lakh bribe. Sharmistha Gharage-Walavalkar, SP, ACB Nashik Range, has appealed citizens to dial 1064 if a public servant demands money from them for doing their work.
