The Malegaon Police as part of its days-long Ganeshotsav celebrations organised a Rangoli Contest in association with the Sai Art Academy at Susanvad Hall at the police headquarters. A total of 23 art aficionados took part in the competition which saw the top three contestants winning a cash prize of Rs 2,100, Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,100 respectively.
Rangoli maker Sandip Raghunath Awhad emerged as the winner while Halima Bano Mumtaz Ali and Punam Subhash Pathare were the first and second runner-ups respectively. Similarly, Prashant Pramod Mali was given a cash prize of Rs 700 and Pratiksha Jagdish Deore was given Rs 500 for their art works. All the contestants including the winners were given a certificate of participation, said Additional Superintendent of Police Aniket Bharati who was instrumental in organising the event.
Additional SP Aniket Bharati, SDPO Pushkraj Suryavanshi, SDPO Babasaheb Thembe, SDPO (Probationary) Savita Garje, and police inspectors of all the police stations were in the attendees. Police Inspector Pandit Sonawane of City Police Station done the role of a supervisor at the event.
Pramod Arvi of the Sai Art Academy was also present to cheer the artists. At his Academy, Arvi has been mentoring budding art lovers who want to make it big in the world of arts by drawing pictures with rangolis. The unique feature of rangolis made at his Sai Art institute is that they look like paintings.
